I realized I wanted to be an artist when I was 10. I attended the School of Visual Arts in NYC and Kent State University in Ohio for Advertising Art. I finished my BFA in painting at Maine College of Art and Design in Portland, Maine. I have designed costumes for many onstage productions in Maine and worked as a set dresser / art director on TV commercials.
In my mixed media pieces, I use found objects. By repetition, the objects may fall into order or disorder, often evolving from deeply personal experiences. In every piece, a transformation takes place. I want the viewer to see a collective image and come closer to be surprised. My portfolio also includes drawings and abstract sculptures.
First and foremost, Maya Lin, Rauschenberg, Schwitters, DaVinci, and Shaughnessy. Each one of these artists have, in so many ways, have inspired my process.
